If you’re wondering why you might not be able to commit to your partner in a proposed marriage, or how to deal with the unexpected, here’s what to know.
What does it really mean when someone says “no”?
Well, in a traditional marriage, a couple agrees to a contract that binds them to each other, in exchange for certain benefits, such as housing and health care.
However, in modern-day marriages, people can enter into new arrangements that can include an extra set of obligations and restrictions, such that a commitment can’t be made, and a new commitment cannot be made.
A new relationship, called a prenuptial agreement, means that a couple has agreed to have a premarital agreement with one another, which includes things such as sharing assets, a fixed term of living together and other things.
It is usually a long and complicated contract that covers both the new arrangements and a commitment to a new relationship.
It’s also common for premaritals to be amended at the end of the agreement, as the couple tries to work through the difficulties of their new arrangement.
It all depends on the particular circumstances of each couple, and how long they have been together.
A lot of people find that when they’ve been married for more than a year or so, their marriage contract can change in some way.
For example, the number of children that the couple has is set at four or five, and the couple can agree to share the household assets, or they may need to work out an income sharing arrangement.
Other things that can happen include:There are a lot of reasons why people may want to change their marriage agreement, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to it.
However if you have any questions about your current and future marriage, you should speak to a professional.
