Police have arrested a welfare queen in the north-west of England after a CCTV image showed she was seen walking towards the elderly couple who were sleeping in their car at a house.
Officers found the elderly man and woman at a farmhouse on Friday after they reported hearing a noise, a police statement said.
A 39-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assaulting and harassing the couple after they alerted police, the statement said, without providing further details.
Police said the man had suffered bruising to his neck and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The woman was bailed to return to court later on Friday.
Police have previously said welfare recipients are not allowed to go into nursing homes or homes that are not registered with the council, and are also not allowed into public buildings.
