Spokane Community Colleges is handing over $1 million to the Spokane Church Community Bible Church in partnership with the Spokane Community Foundation to help build and expand its community church.
The Spokane Church will continue to operate its ministry and support the Spokane Bible Church’s mission to build a “community Bible church” and provide opportunities for worship and education for its members.
“It’s about community,” said Pastor Jim McManus.
“It’s really about building the community together.”
The money will be distributed through the Spokane County Community Church Fund, which the county will use to help churches pay for building infrastructure, renovate classrooms, purchase new equipment and more.
In 2015, Spokane Community High School and Community College donated $500,000 each.
Spokane’s first community Bible church opened in 2015.
The church is also building a new church on the property and hopes to open a second one next year.
The community fund was established to help Spokane community institutions support their congregations and services by providing cash grants for construction and renovation, as well as other non-essential expenses.
The churches will receive the money in the first quarter of 2020.
