NEW YORK (AP) The Islanders will have to make a few adjustments to the way they approach Saturday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
With just four games left in the regular season, the Islanders are trying to avoid a repeat of last year’s 3-2 shootout loss in New Jersey on April 9.
They have three games remaining before heading to Brooklyn to face the Nets for a third straight season on Saturday.
The Islanders are coming off their most dominant regular season in franchise history, finishing with a franchise-record 59 wins.
The last time the Islanders faced the Lightning was in a shootout at Barclays Arena on March 13, 2004.
They won that game, 3-0, but the season was not without drama, with goalie Mike Cammalleri falling during the shootout.
The Islanders lost in the shootout, 3 1-0.
