The Hollywood Hills, FL (April 15, 2019) — With the help of his father, the Rockland Community College president made a special appearance at the annual Lakeland Community Foundation fundraising dinner on Saturday.
The Rockland community center’s board of directors unanimously voted to award an A-List actor, actor coach, producer, actor/director, actress, actress/comedian and director to the Rocklands Community Foundation.
The event took place at the Rockwood Community Center in Lakeland, Florida, and featured actors Robert De Niro, Tom Sizemore, Matt Damon, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sarah Silverman, David Spade and more.
The star-studded night was part of the Rocklaners community foundation’s annual fundraising event.
The foundation has raised more than $3 million for the community over the years.
The dinner was part in the Rocklamans effort to raise money for the Rockville area’s schools.
It also featured a special event where the Rocklans football team, the Lakeland Highlanders, hosted the Rocklar football team and other local students and alumni to sing the Rocklines song “Roses on the Hill” with the Rock Land community.
“It’s a celebration of the community,” Rockland Schools Superintendent David Prentice said.
“We want to show the community we care and appreciate their contributions to the community.
The Rockland Public School System is one of the most respected public school systems in the country.”
Prentice added that the fundraiser was held at the community center for students to celebrate their graduation.
“There’s a great connection between students and parents, teachers and staff, coaches and staff,” he said.
The annual Rockland fundraising dinner was the second in as many years to benefit the Rock Lands schools, which serve students in Rockland, Lakeland and the nearby community of Rockland City.
Last year’s event featured a star-packed lineup including A-listers Mark Ruffalo, Michael Cera, George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Ben Affleck, Mark Ruffalos and Jada Pinkett Smith.
